Mary Lou (Morrison) Smallwood age 86 of Okolona returned to her Heavenly Father on May 13, 2017. She was owner /operator of Ken-Mulch and worked for the Courier Journal in payroll for many years. Mrs. Smallwood had been a past President of the Okolona Women's Club and served for several terms, and a chairperson for Jr. Miss Pageant. She was a member of the Okolona Business and Professional Association and was in the last graduating class of Okolona High School. Mrs. Smallwood worked with the Crusade for Children and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts Pack 157. Above all, Mrs. Smallwood loved her family dearly, and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Josephine Morrison; husband, David L. Smallwood, and her brother, Eddie Rhea Morrison.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, David L. Smallwood Jr. (Sandra), Michael Smallwood (Diane) and Ross Smallwood; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sisters, Doris Cundiff, and Jo Ann Thomas; and a host of other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 am on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. Louisville, Ky., with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 1 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday and 10:00 am till 8:00 pm Wednesday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home.
