John Stephen Maderic, III, 48, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home in Milton, KY. John was born June 22, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky, and resided there until 2005, when he married and purchased his dream piece of property in Milton.
John worked at Jewish Hospital for many years, where he met his wife, Dr. Susan Florene Melton Maderic. He later began working at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, where he remained until his cancer diagnosis in February 2016. John forged many friendships at work and will likely be most remembered for his candor. He strived to be an excellent operating room technician, but truly only worked so that he could play.
John's greatest passion was modifying and racing Mustangs. In later years, he also developed interests in cooking, gardening, hunting, and wood-working. He found great pleasure in life as a landowner- nursing food plots and trees and building a chicken coop, numerous hunting blinds, and a hunting cabin on the property. His latest hobby was beekeeping.
John is the son of Rena Sue Hundley Maderic and John Stephen Maderic, Jr., who passed away in 2008. He is the brother of Teffany Lynn Maderic and Jason (Paula Lay) Keith Maderic and Uncle of Abigayle Rynna and Anderson Keith Maderic.
In addition to his human family, he leaves to mourn his absence two Boston Terriers, Murphy Lee and Rocky. His deepest love and best friend- his beloved Boston Terrier, Bandit- went to Doggie Heaven in September 2016 at the age of 17.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Noon in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood, & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 3:00 pm until 8:00pm, and on Friday from 10:00am until time of service.
Pallbearers Dr. Michael Bousamra, David Lawson, Mark Lawson, John Smither, Bobby Stanbury, Dr. Russell Williams.
In honor of John, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. John chose this charity because he felt the heartache cancer brought to his adult life and the lives of all his family and friend. He could only imagine how much worse it is for a child.
