Love Emblem

Joey Lynn Carter,42, was suddenly called to her eternal home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family and friends, and both the compassionate staffs of Sumner Regional Medical Center and Tennessee Donor Services in Gallatin, Tennessee. She was welcomed into the world by her dedicated parents, Glenn and Helen Newton, who taught her the importance of love and family. Shortly after meeting the perfect partner to walk through life with, she married Mr. Christopher Carter at age 22. Together they raised four beautiful boys; Parker, Peyton, Preston, and Pearson. Joey Lynn dedicated all of her time and love to nurturing and caring for her children and family. She recently followed her husband to Gallatin, Tennessee starting a new chapter of her life. She was a devoted follower of Christ and touched many lives including all she met, in all circumstances. She continued her selflessness after death by donating her organs to benefit others through the Tennessee Donor Services. She is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher Carter; her four sons: Parker Mason, Peyton Montgomery, Preston Morgan, and Pearson Miles; her parents, Glenn and Helen Newton; her brother, Joshua "Josh" Newton; her grandmother, Sitto Elie; Uncle Butch; Aunt Julie; Aunt Linda; Aunt Minnie; her father and mother in law, Cecil and Elaine Carter; her brother in law, Timothy (Lani) Carter; 2 nephews and a niece, Andon Wyatt, Jackson Floyd, Kenslee Madison; and many treasured cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165) with a private burial to be scheduled at a later date. Friends may pay their respects from 12:30pm until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express a heartfelt gratitude to the most loving, compassionate staff at Sumner Medical Center especially Dr. Matthew King and the servants of the Critical Care Unit who went above and beyond to care for her and her family. And the Tennessee Donor Services who helped the family complete Joey's final wish. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 550 South First St., Louisville, KY 40202.
