Mr. James Leo Burt, Sr., age 76, of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Mr. Burt was born in Jefferson County, KY on July 10, 1940 to the late Louis and Allean Burt. He was a former member of St. Luke Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Among those who preceded him in death include, his brothers, Bill, Louis, Raymond, Pat and Bob Burt and his sister, Norma Kline.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Gloria Jean Burt; his sons, James Leo Burt, Jr. (Mindy), Kevin Wayne Burt (Laura) and David Leroy Burt, Sr. (Karen); his daughter, Melissa Burt; 10 grandchildren; brother, Joe Burt; sisters, Sister Mary Louise Burt and Sister Betty Burt; The Smallwood Family and a host of dear friends and extended family.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, May 1, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
