Mrs. Ina Rae (Alford) Gray "Penny", 69, of Shepherdsville, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Esco and Murrel (Burden) Alford she was born January 23, 1948 in Morgantown, Kentucky.

She was united in holy matrimony to her soul mate Manuel Anthony Gray, in March of 1966. This union was blessed with four daughters. Manuel Gray preceded her in death on March 22, 2013.

Her beautiful legacy will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughters, Carolyn Jeffries (Claude), Margaret Coleman (Eddie), Cynthia Gray of Shepherdsville and Penny Denise Carter (Kevin) of Mt Washington; twelve grandchildren, Justin and Samantha Jeffries, Paul III, Logan and Grayson Coleman, Cameron, Alec, Jacob, Jared and Morgan Carter, Vieira Grayce and Avonlea Jo Bryant; special mention, Marissa Jeffries; 7 brothers and 3 sisters as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.

Humble, giving, caring and loving are all traits of this wonderful woman. A faithful servant to God, a role model, caretaker and a friend to all. Putting everyone above herself at all times. Her gracious spirit and the way she embraced life would make anyone smile. Truly nothing short of perfection. It is an honor and privilege to those who were blessed to know her.

Though above all else she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.

Luke 1:46-48
And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed."

Forever in his grace.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm EST on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with a private burial at a later date. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday, March 29 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Margaret Coleman for her memorial fund.
