Patriotic Emblem

Mr. Gary Allan Bates, age 57, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Mr. Bates was born in Lexington, KY on October 10, 1959 to the late James R. Bates and Arlene Porzig Bates.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Jessica L. Dedman (Cameron); sister, Danette Schmidt (Steve); brother, Kevin Bates; uncles, Don Bates, Junie Porzig and Ronnie Porzig; nieces, Brandi O' Donnell (Joe) and Ashley Bates; his best buddy, Willie; many dear friends and family that loved and supported him throughout his life.
Memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with inurnment at a later date with his mother at Resthaven Memorial Park. Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the KY Humane Society or the Arrow Fund.
