Mr. Charles "Norman" Oliver, age 78, of Hardinsburg passed away peacefully on April 24, 2017. Norman retired as the CEO of Kentucky Metals, working there for 42 years and was instrumental in the startup and running of various Honeycomb One group of companies. He was the prior co-owner of O & H Auto Sales, Inc. in Charlestown, IN. He was a proud member of Alcoholic Anonymous. He enjoyed fast cars, traveling the rivers, being at the lake with family and friends, taking drives through the country, and playing with his dogs. Among those that preceded him in death include his parents, Aubrey and Delilah Gardner Oliver; two brothers, Elvis (Jack) and William Oliver; and a sister, Patricia Roth. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Geraldine Oliver; children, Norma House (Mike), Brenda Downs (Dave), Diane Oliver, Debbie Oliver, Chuck Oliver, Becky Duncan (Tony), and Perry Mattingly; extended family, Jim Rentschler; 18 grandchildren, Krystal, Eric, Chad, Sarah, Stephen, Jason, Matt, Corey, Nathan, Alex, Beau, Justin, Emma, Thomas, Skyler, Nate, David, and Andrea; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Oliver (Pat) and Kenneth Oliver (Pauline); three sisters, Doris Marshall (R.L.), Geraldine Decker (Exodus) and Juanita Travis (Doyle); several nieces and nephews; and his two babies, Duke and Duchess. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hannah Cox for her devotion, friendship and support for the past several years of his life, and to the facility at Davita Dialysis for their care and compassion. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, Hosparus and/or Alcoholics Anonymous.
Funeral service will be conducted at 6 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with cremation to follow. Friends may pay their respects on Friday from 1 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Obituary on www.subfuneralhome.com
